Sources close to the Presidency of the Republic of Yemen revealed that ,the UN envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed has requested to meet with Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi in an attempt to save the Yemeni peace negotiations.

According to Asharq al-Awsat newspaper, the advisor of the Yemeni president,Yassin Makawi, said that the request to meet with the president Hadi came after the mistake of the UN envoy as he presented a roadmap to the Yemeni conflict . It not approved or even presented to the delegation of government and this is mean legalize their coup and dangerous precedent to legalize coups in the world.

Makawi also revealed that the Yemeni government has severely criticized the U.N. special envoy and said " I think from our experience in the marathon for seventy days in Kuwait talks that the military decision has to be an end to the coup and its consequent, or the strict implementation of UN Security Council resolution.

Makawi stressed the need for Ould Cheikh Ahmed to set up mechanisms to implement Resolution 2216, rather than in engaging in compromises that do not fall within the framework of the international resolution which leads to the consecration of the coup and legalize it.

He also added that Ould Cheikh Ahmed’s briefing to the U.N. Security Council was not in line with Resolution 2216, adding that his proposal to form a unity government came in accordance with the plans set by the Houthis and disregarded international sanctions imposed on the rebels as they hampered the country’s political peace process and the Gulf initiative, instigated war and threatened security in other neighboring countries, and even they performed a military attack on the Saudi border and pose a risk to the security of its citizens.
