Yemen’s central bank last sunday and stopped paying out dues and salaries of a large number of government employees in Sana'a and other provinces

This is as the central bank suffers from a lack of liquidity which does not exceed 8 billion Yemeni riyals because of attrition for the general budget amounting to more than a thousand billion , banking sources said.

The sources said that liquidity in the central bank reached to offlod the public treasury almost entirely by the Houthi's authorities in Sana'a.

After the leadership of the Central Bank bing sure from the lack of sufficient liquidity to pay salaries, decided to close its doors , the sources added.

The sources confirmed that the bank is free to choose between the declaration of bankruptcy or supply of cash from the incomes of the provinces , which are supplied to Sana'a.

The sources likely failure of the Yemeni Central Bank capacity of payment of salaries in the coming months.
