Jassem Albudaiwi، the secretary-general of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)، emphasised on Tuesday that the environment is "appropriate" for the beginning of negotiations to end the violence in Yemen.

He urged prioritising Yemen's greater national interest so that peace، security، and stability may prevail in a statement commemorating one year after the establishment of a statewide ceasefire in the nation.

He suggested that the Gulf initiative، the outcomes of the national discussion، and pertinent United Nations Security Council resolutions serve as the foundation for peace.

He also hailed the conclusions reached by Yemeni parties during those consultations hosted by the GCC from March 29 to April 7، 2022.

At the talks، Yemeni leaders، members of the House of Representatives and the Shura Council، and representatives of political forces and civil society reached important mechanisms to strengthen unity and build channels of communication، consultation and reconciliation، and to support the economic decision to ease the suffering of the Yemeni people and resume the process of development and construction.

Albudaiwi added that the GCC was confident that the Yemeni people will achieve the noble goals that the consultations were aimed at achieving.
