KSrelief center chief meets UN Yemen coordinator‏‏

Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, adviser at the Royal Court and general supervisor of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, recently met David Gressly, the UN’s resident coordinator for Yemen.

During their meeting at the center’s headquarters in Riyadh, they discussed the humanitarian situation in Yemen, ongoing relief operations, and the environmental threat posed by the decaying FSO Safer oil tanker moored off Yemen’s Red Sea coast.

Gressly praised Saudi Arabia’s vital humanitarian efforts in Yemen, conducted by KSrelief, and its support for the Yemeni people, adding that the UN would continue to work with the center to tackle the aid challenges in Yemen.

Meanwhile, the center continued its relief efforts in Afghanistan, as it distributed food and shelter aid to the neediest families in the country.

The center on Saturday distributed 253 tons and 600 kilograms of aid, including 4,000 food baskets, 8,000 flour bags, 1,600 winter kits and 1,600 blankets in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, benefiting 2,000 families.

The center also continued its voluntary medical campaign to combat blindness and causing diseases in Chad in cooperation with Al-Basar International Foundation.

The team conducted 218 specialized surgeries, provided 822 medical prescriptions and distributed 452 eye glasses.
