King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) signed on Sunday an agreement with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to provide shelter for displaced families across Yemen.

The agreement will benefit 104,406 individuals with a total value of USD6 million.

KSrelief Assistant Supervisor General for Operations and Programs Eng. Ahmad bin Ali Al-Baiz and Advisor to UNHCR and Representative to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Arab States Khalid Khalifah signed the agreement at the center's headquarters in Riyadh.

Following the signing ceremony, Al-Baiz noted that the agreement, which is part of close cooperation between KSrelief and UNHCR, came in response to the emergency situation in Yemen.

He pointed out that the agreement stipulates providing 6,000 housings and 14,000 shelter bags to help the displaced families and to improve their living conditions.

He said the targeted governorates are Hajjah, Al-Jouf, Al-Baida, Omran, Taiz, Hodeidah, Sanaa, Abyan, Ibb, Dhamar, Aden, Lahaj, Capital Municipality, Al-Dali and Saada.

Khalifah praised the role of KSrelief in the humanitarian field, expressing his gratitude for its support to UNHCR's efforts.

"We are proud of our partnership with KSrelief and we highly appreciate its continuous backing and important contribution to support the needy displaced people in Yemen,” he said.

He added that the contribution will support UNHCR's efforts in responding to shelter needs of the underprivileged families and help them enjoy decent lives.

The agreement is part of efforts being exerted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by KSrelief, to support all vital sectors in Yemen.
