The Iranian-backed Houthi militia has prevented a ship from unloading 12,500 tons of wheat at Yemen’s Hodaidah port, according to the country’s information minister.

Minister Muammar Al-Eryani said the Houthis forced the ship, belonging to the World Food Program, to leave the port after they refused to allow it unload its cargo.

Eryani described the act as an extension of the militia’s approach in obstructing humanitarian relief operations.

In a series of tweets on Saturday night, Eyrani said the Houthis continued to use its “policy of impoverishment and starvation” by exploiting the suffering of millions of Yemeni people who were living under tragic conditions as a card for political bidding.
