A projectile fired by Yemen’s Al Houthi militia had landed near a hospital in a Saudi border area, causing no casualties, the Saudi civil defence said, the latest in cross-border attacks by the rebels.

The Katyusha projectile had been launched by the Iran-aligned rebels from inside Yemen and fallen in a garden adjacent to a public hospital in the south-western Saudi region of Jazan, spokesman for the local civil defence Col Mohammed Al Ghamdi added.

“Its shrapnel scattered in several different sites, without resulting in casualties or damage,” he added, according to the Saudi news agency SPA.

Earlier this month, three civilians were injured in Jazan by a projectile fired by Al Houthis.

The rebels have recently stepped up attacks targeting Saudi Arabia.

Al Houthis plunged Yemen into a devastating conflict after they toppled the internationally recognised government and overran the capital Sana’a in late 2014.
