Hundreds of Yemeni families in Hodeidah receive UAE's medical support‏

Hundreds of poor Yemeni families in the country's Red Sea port city of Hodeidah on Wednesday continued to receive necessary medical supplies from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a government official told Xinhua.

Through the UAE's Red Crescent Authority, nearly 105,000 poor patients living along the country's western coast in Hodeidah received health care during the past days, the source said on condition of anonymity according to the agency .

"Mobile clinics and professional medical teams financed by the UAE visited around 130 villages located along Hodeidah's coast and completed inspecting the citizens' health conditions there," he said, adding that most of the families found it difficult to head to the city's medical centers to receive treatment due to "lack of transportation, dangers of landmines and exorbitant cost of medical supplies."

The UAE's medical teams will continue to move throughout the war-ravaged areas to periodically provide medical care and food supplies for thousands of displaced families living there, according to the official.

Another official of Hodeidah's Health Department confirmed that more than 6,000 Yemeni patients, including children and pregnant women, received free treatment during the past three weeks.

The UAE is an active member of the Saudi-led Arab military coalition that has been fighting the Iran-allied Houthi rebels in Yemen since March 2015.
