The United States of America has vowed to work closely with Kenya to ensure Al-Shabaab militants are crushed and defeated.

For the past one decade, the Al-Shabaab have created a menace in East Africa, with Kenya being on the receiving end in most cases.

For instance, the country has witnessed 11 Al-Shabaab attacks in the past one month, something that forced President Uhuru Kenyatta to summon an urgent security meetings last week.

Now, US ambassador to Kenya Kyle McCarter says the US will work closely with Kenya to ensure that the group is completely neutralised.

"Al-Shabaab’s ongoing efforts to destabilize democratic, open societies represent a destructive threat in Kenya and East Africa. The United States and Kenya are training, sharing information, and fighting side by side to defeat this terrorist organization," he said.

"We remain fully committed to the fight against terrorism and are proud to partner with Kenya to defeat al-Shabaab," he added.

Last week, US deployed the elite East Africa Response Forces (EARF) following a raid at Camp Simba in Lamu where three US citizens were killed.
