The Saudi-led Arab coalition spokesman, Colonel Turki al-Maliki, announced on Tuesday that two ballistic missiles fired by the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen crashed shortly after they were fired.

" The militias fired the rockets from Sanaa. They crashed in the Amran and Saada provinces," Maliki said. He accused the Houthis of launching the missiles from residential areas, adding to their record of violating international humanitarian law. He stressed that the coalition will continue to take firm and deterrent measures to neutralize and destroy the Houthis’ ballistic capabilities and protect the people of Yemen and regional and international security.

The Saudi-led Arab coalition intervened in Yemen in March 2015 against the Houthis after they ousted the internationally recognized government in Sanaa in late 2014.
