Yemeni presidential adviser Yasin Makkawi confirmed that orders issued by President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi were in line with public political and national will to fight off Iranian meddling in Yemen.

Makkawi said that local proxies will no longer be allowed to do Tehran’s bidding and that authority over Yemen must be restored to legitimate forms of governing so that community prevails.

In his message to the Yemeni president, Makkawi pointed out that presidential decisions come within the framework of initiating the process of political transition as stipulated by the GCC initiative and its executive mechanisms, as well as outcomes of national dialogue and relevant international resolutions, especially resolution 2216.

Makkawi adds that the glamor of victories achieved stands against the Tehran project led by coup militias in Yemen.

“With all pride, appreciation and satisfaction, the peaceful southern movement took part in the decisions of the president addressing imbalances caused by the political schism,” Makkawi said.

“A part of the southern peaceful movement confirms that they back a legitimately found state of governing.”

Makkawi also cited the role played by the Saudi-led Arab coalition backing the government in Yemen.

In 2014, Iran-aligned Houthis allied with armed loyalists backing ousted president Ali Abdullah Saleh stormed the country’s capital, driving the internationally recognized government led by Hadi out. Coup militias effectively hijacked Sana’a-based public institutions which pushed the constitutionally elected government to relocate to Aden.
