During the last quarter of last year, Harrana reports revealed about  Qarchak prison for women that located in the eastern desert of Tehran, noting that it is "the most dangerous prison in Iran and the worst because of the rape, torture and the poor health and psychological conditions imposed on women prisoners.

This prison is considered the most dangerous and the worst reputation prison in the prisons of women in Iran because it is located in an arid desert near a salt lake. It is occupied by a large number of women prisoners, despite its narrow space, in addition to lack of health services and widespread torture in the prison.

More than 2,000 prisoners

The Qarchak prison, with its seven sections, has more than 2,000 prisoners, with 200 to 300 prisoners in each section some with their children, and growing each year.

The total area of ​​the prison does not exceed 1500 meters, the area of ​​the partitions, the department of administration and the rest of the prison does not exceed 400 meters, meaning that the share of each prisoner is only about 20 centimeters.

With regard to prison rooms, there is one hall with 600 beds and the rest of the prisoners, 1,400 women and girls and some children, sleep on the ground. According to the source, prisoners in Qarchak prison are exposed to the types of torture including rape and the prison authorities deliberately use insult, contempt, beatings and abuse as a method of dealing with prisoners and this has devastating psychological effects on them.

Prison authorities punish prisoners who protest against prison conditions in response to bad food or lack of health services in their solitary confinement with another mentally disturbed prisoner as a means of torture.
