On January 4, 2016, hundreds of Iranian victims staged a demonstration in front of the Iranian Interior Ministry in the capital Tehran against government corruption because of the case of the Shandez Foundation, which is accused of embezzling billions of citizens' money by illegally selling property and land to citizens which led to the confiscation of their funds. The protesters demanded accountability the province of Mashhad, the province where the Shandez Foundation is located , and raised banners calling for returning their money looted by what they described as "government gangs."

Shandez case, a construction and reconstruction group, is one of the biggest corruption cases in the era of former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and former officials were accused of embezzling 94,000 billion tomans, or about $ 27 billion, according to Iranian agencies.

- Teachers demonstrations

On March 8, 2017, Iranian teachers called on all educational cadres there to participate in demonstrations including the capital Tehran to denounce the imprisonment of Iranian Teachers' Captain Ismail Abdi, who was sentenced to six years imprisonment on charges of organizing illegal gatherings and unsettling the national security. Iranian media also published a secret list containing the names of ministers and officials of Ahmadinejad's government involved in a major financial corruption scandal including the withdrawal of about $ 70 billion from the Iranian central bank's account as loans and grants over eight years. Observers saw the scandal as the biggest blow to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei , who was a staunch supporter of Ahmadinejad's government and has repeatedly described it as the most honest government in Iran's history.

- Salaries

The Supervisory Authority on Government Insurance in Iran chairman , Mohamed Ibrahim Amin, submitted his resignation on the back of the pay crisis for senior government officials in Iran, and Iranian reports sparked a new crisis over salaries received by senior government officials, which eventually led to public anger there.
