The national army and the resistance supported by the Arab coalition forces attacked on Tuesday al-Qaeda militants in southern Yemen in the Marakasha mountains in Abyan province.
Local officials said, according to Alarabiya, 11 soldiers and 15 Al-Qaeda fighters were killed in the attack.

More than 60 military vehicles were involved in the operation, firing automatic weapons and rocket-propelled grenades, military sources said.

Marakasha mountains in Abyan province is Qaeda stronghold.The area has long been a militant haven and attracting fighters in the 1990s.
