The US “strongly” condemned the attempted attacks by Yemen’s Houthi militias on population centers in Saudi Arabia.

“These attacks threaten not only innocent civilians but also prospects for peace and stability in Yemen,” said State Department spokesman Ned Price in a press release on Sunday.

“The United States strongly condemns the Houthis’ attacks on population centers in Saudi Arabia on Saturday,” he said.

According to Asharq Al-Awsat, Price urged the militias “to end these egregious attacks and engage constructively with UN Special Envoy Martin Griffiths and US Special Envoy Tim Lenderking with the goal of bringing peace, prosperity, and security to the Yemeni people.”

He stressed that Washington remains committed to its longstanding partnership with Saudi Arabia and to helping the Kingdom defend its territory as it faces attacks from Iran-backed groups.
